Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can I use a different type of peanut butter?
A: Yes, you can! While we recommend natural peanut butter (chunky or smooth), any peanut butter will work. Just be aware that some commercial peanut butters may contain added sugar or salt, which could affect the flavor of the soup.
Q: Can I make this soup spicier?
A: Absolutely! Add more Serrano pepper, or a pinch of cayenne pepper, to increase the heat level.
Q: Can I freeze this soup?
A: Yes, this soup freezes beautifully! Allow it to cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container and freezing for up to 3 months.
Q: What if I don’t have fresh ginger?
A: You can substitute with 1 teaspoon of ground ginger, but fresh ginger will provide a more vibrant flavor.
Q: Can I use another type of milk instead of coconut milk?
A: While coconut milk adds a lovely richness, you can substitute with another plant-based milk like almond or cashew milk. The flavor will be slightly different, but still delicious.
We hope you enjoy this flavorful and comforting Vegan West African Peanut Soup! It’s a perfect way to warm up on a cold day and experience the vibrant flavors of West Africa.
