What makes our Tom Yum Soup special? We focus on building layers of flavor, ensuring each ingredient shines. The simmering process allows the herbs to infuse the broth, creating a depth of taste that’s truly remarkable. We also encourage you to adjust the chili peppers to your preferred spice level – from mild and fragrant to fiery and bold!
Serving Suggestions:
- Enjoy as a starter or a light meal.
- Serve with steamed jasmine rice to soak up the delicious broth.
- Garnish with extra cilantro and a wedge of lime for a burst of freshness.
Frequently Asked Questions:
- What is galangal? Galangal is a rhizome similar to ginger, but with a more citrusy and piney flavor. It’s a key ingredient in Tom Yum and adds a unique depth of flavor.
- Can I substitute kaffir lime leaves? While kaffir lime leaves are essential for authentic flavor, you can use the zest of one lime if you can’t find them. However, the flavor won’t be quite the same.
- How spicy can I make it? The amount of chili peppers is entirely up to you! Start with a small amount and add more to taste. Remember, you can always add more spice, but it’s hard to take it away!
- Can I use shrimp instead of chicken? Absolutely! Tom Yum Goong (with shrimp) is another popular variation. Simply substitute the chicken with an equal amount of shrimp.
- Can I make this ahead of time? While best served fresh, you can prepare the broth ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Add the chicken and vegetables just before serving.
