What makes this chowder special?

  • Fresh Flavors: We use fresh (or frozen!) corn for the best taste. The thyme and bay leaf add subtle herbal notes that complement the seafood beautifully.
  • Easy to Customize: Feel free to add other vegetables like potatoes or carrots for extra heartiness.
  • Quick & Simple: Ready in under an hour, this chowder is a lifesaver on busy nights.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve with crusty bread for dipping into the creamy broth.
  • A side salad with a light vinaigrette complements the richness of the chowder.
  • Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley or chives for a pop of color.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Can I use frozen corn?
A: Absolutely! Frozen corn works just as well as fresh. Just make sure to thaw it before adding it to the pot.

Q: What kind of cod is best for this chowder?
A: Any mild, white fish will work, but Atlantic cod is a classic choice. Haddock or pollock are also good options.

Q: Can I make this chowder ahead of time?
A: Yes, you can! The flavors actually develop more as it sits. Just store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Q: Is it possible to make a lighter version of this chowder?
A: You can substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half or even milk, but the chowder won’t be as creamy. You can also reduce the amount of butter used.

Q: Can I add potatoes to this chowder?
A: Yes! Adding about 1-2 medium diced potatoes along with the celery and onion will make it even more filling. You may need to increase the broth slightly.

We hope you enjoy this delicious and comforting Cod and Corn Chowder! It’s a recipe you’ll make again and again.
