The combination of peach and cantaloupe is a classic for a reason, and the addition of basil, mint, and ginger elevates it to something truly special. Plus, it’s ready in under 15 minutes prep time – perfect for busy summer days!

What makes this soup so good?

  • Freshness: Using ripe, in-season peaches and cantaloupe is key to maximizing the flavor.
  • Herbal Infusion: Basil and mint add a bright, aromatic quality that complements the fruit beautifully.
  • Zesty Kick: A touch of lime juice and grated ginger provides a subtle zing that balances the sweetness.
  • Versatility: Adjust the sweetness and add a splash of sparkling water, white grape juice, or even sparkling wine for a truly customized experience.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Garnish with a dollop of vanilla yogurt for a creamy texture.
  • Add small melon balls for a playful presentation.
  • A sprig of fresh mint adds a pop of color and aroma.
  • Serve in chilled bowls for the ultimate refreshing experience.

Is this soup vegan?

Yes! Simply omit the vanilla yogurt garnish or substitute it with a plant-based yogurt alternative.

Can I make this soup ahead of time?

Absolutely! The soup actually tastes better after it’s had a few hours to chill and allow the flavors to meld. Just make sure to add the sparkling water/juice/wine right before serving to maintain its fizz.

Can I use frozen peaches or cantaloupe?

While fresh is best, you can use frozen fruit in a pinch. Be sure to thaw it completely and drain any excess liquid before blending. The texture might be slightly different, but the flavor will still be delicious.

What if I don’t have fresh ginger?

You can use ground ginger, but start with a very small amount (about 1/4 teaspoon) and adjust to taste. Fresh ginger provides a brighter, more vibrant flavor.
