Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can I use dried black beans instead of canned?
A: Yes, absolutely! You’ll need to soak and cook the dried beans before adding them to the slow cooker. About 1.5 cups of dried beans will yield roughly the same amount as a 15oz can.
Q: Can I add other vegetables?
A: Definitely! Feel free to add corn, zucchini, bell peppers, or any other vegetables you enjoy.
Q: Is this recipe spicy?
A: Not as written. However, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a chopped jalapeño for a little heat.
Q: Can I freeze this puree?
A: Yes! Allow it to cool completely, then store it in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Q: What if I don’t have an immersion blender?
A: You can use a regular blender, but be careful when blending hot liquids. Blend in batches and vent the lid to prevent pressure buildup.
