Instructions
In a large pot or Dutch oven, melt butter or heat oil over medium heat.
Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Pour in crushed tomatoes and vegetable broth. Bring to a simmer.
Stir in dried basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve hot.
