Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • salt to taste salt
  • pepper to taste pepper

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot or Dutch oven, melt butter or heat oil over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Pour in crushed tomatoes and vegetable broth. Bring to a simmer.
  • Stir in dried basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve hot.
