Janice’s Tea Ring

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup warm water for yeast
  • 1 Tbsp sugar for yeast
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup butter softened
  • 1 package rapid rise yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk warm
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1/2 cup sugar for filling
  • 1 tsp cinnamon for filling

Instructions
 

  • Dissolve 1 Tbsp sugar in 1/2 cup warm water. Sprinkle with yeast and let stand 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, 2 Tbsp sugar, and salt. Cut in 1/4 cup softened butter.
  • Add yeast mixture and 1/2 cup warm milk. Knead until smooth.
  • Roll dough into a 12x18 inch rectangle.
  • Brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon.
  • Roll up tightly and place seam-down on a greased baking sheet.
  • Form into a ring and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.
