Zulu Bread with Harissa Broth

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Instant yeast
  • 1.5 cups Warm water
  • 2 tbsp Harissa paste Adjust to taste
  • 4 cups Tomato broth Vegetable or chicken broth can be substituted

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
  • Gradually add warm water and mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  • While the dough rises, prepare the harissa broth by combining tomato broth and harissa paste in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
  • Place each portion into a large plastic bag (or steamer basket). Ensure there is room for the bread to expand.
  • Steam the bread for 20-25 minutes.
  • Serve immediately with the harissa broth.
